Pop Up

Across the country, pop-up merchandising is reevaluating the shopping experience. Leases are very short term--typically less than two weeks--and in the temporary retail space, entrepreneurs are able to be more experimental, flourish their creativity, and create as much “bang” as they can without risking a significant time or financial investment. Our goal was to create a means by which creative entrepreneurs could more easily bring their business to the cultural forefront--positioning Montgomery as a city that is supportive of small makers, and ensuring that the process of establishing a business was never too daunting as to turn away otherwise enthusiastic and creative minds.

To that end, The Gumptioneers pursued two different paths to supporting small business in the city:

1. Developed MGM Maker Spotlight promotional displays, encouraging tourists along Dexter Avenue to explore the creations of local artisans by providing a convenient location for displaying their products.

2. Designing a Pop-Up Toolkit that collects the complex process of developing a pop-up business into an accessible, simple guide housed here, on the Gumptioneers website.
